Real Estate Marketing >> Bi-Lingual Hot-Lines are the future

The big national news the week of the 11th of February, 2008 was the phenomenal growth of the Latino population.  The Census Bureau release figures that show the U.S. population grew by 2.8 million between July 1, 2004, and July 1, 2005.  The Census Report says Hispanics accounted for 1.3 million of that increase.

The Population Resource Center cites statistics showing the average Hispanic woman will have three children in her lifetime; it's 1.8% for non-Hispanic whites.   This means Hispanics will makeup a large percentage of the population in years to come.

Think about this if you are Seller of real estate in an area that has a large Hispanic population it is likely there are a high number of Spanish speaking buyers that could be interested in your home, business or land.  In the past the only way these people could communicate was to have interpreters.  How will you as a Seller attract Spanish speaking buyers that normally would not call on your home?

In 1997 I created the Nation's first know bi-lingual hotline.  The system has now been improved to allow even more features.  Full color fliers are placed in an information box in front of a home and a toll-free number can be dialed that offers the following:

  • Callers can listen to listing information in English or Spanish
  • Callers can have listing information automatically faxed to them
  • Callers can leave a message requesting a showing or more information
  • Callers can be connected to my cell directly from the toll free number

This toll-free number can be placed on color fliers as mentioned above, signs and any print advertising.

Think about it...if the Latino population continues to grow as anticipated, it makes more sense than ever to have some kind of system to attract those potentional buyers to call on your property.

For more information dial my toll free numer, 1-800-316-6915 and press 1 for English or 2 for Spanish and then zero (0) to be connected to me direclty.

Hi George - Great post and I agree with what you are saying because we are already seeing our market gradually shift in this direction.

Great post... you are on it my friend.  I recently translated my website into Spanish and I am trying to catch up and learn to be more fluent in it.  There is a whole other market that few are tapping into, well said.

George, I have heard the same thing, that is the population that is growing, I've actually been thinking about taking a Spanish speaking class or those tapes, as I heard they are faster.

George~At one time I spoke spanish pretty well -- I am definitely going to have to brush up my skills.  Muchas gracias and buena suerte!  (see I told you I need to brush up!)  We will need to have a spanish spell check on Active Rain!

Hola George. Mi familia entera aprende a cómo hablar español. Tengo que decir que es más duro para mí que los niños.

Did you know that the Alzheimer's foundation has said that the #1 way to prevent Alzheimer's is to learn a language as an adult.  It really flexes that brain.

Tenga un gran día mi amigo.

George - I went through all of that a couple of years ago when I was with Century21. But I learned quickly that the Hispanic population were not purchasing many homes in my area, even though the population was growing. I learned really quick that the first generation hispanic people had a hard time getting a loan, and the second and third generation hispanic could speak and read english. So I was wasting my time going after Spanish speaking customers.

Maybe the market is different for you. But in Tennessee, we don't see a lot of Spanish speaking home buyers.

Oregon has a pretty large Hispanic population. I thought about doing one side of my flyers in Spanish and one in English. Unfortunately I don't speak Spanish so I'd have to hire that out.  This is a great idea and a lot cheaper

Larry - I understand that every state has different cultures.  The west, S.W. and Florida and some midwestern states are on fire with Hispanic growth and this system will help them.

Melina - I have helped other Realtors that don't speak Spanish setup systems.  You can hire a Spanish speaking lender or title company officer to do the Spanish recording for you and work with them as a team.
