Please don't take this as an attack. It is simply my request to all AR members to please think about what we write and where we post it. Many know I am working on a new Point2Agent site.
Because of this I was attracted to the group called "Point2AgentSites" which was created by Jay and Francy Thompson. When you visit this group and go to the groups page, on the left side of the page it clearly states:
"An ActiveRain group for members who have Point 2 Agent web sites. Post tips & techniques for optimizing your Point 2 web site, or ask for help!"
It is very clear what Jay and Francy intended with this group. Anxiously I joined the group and began my search for valuable information that would help me with my new site.
I was surprised when at one point I had to go through 3 complete pages before I found another blog that was relative to the group!
I have to admit that many of the blogs that are written are excellent but they don't apply to what Jay and Francy asked for in terms of content. Many of the post that were written were perfect for other groups but not for this Point2Agent site.
I wrote to Jay and mentioned my disappointment and he said he agreed but did not have the time to monitor the group and asked if I was interested in helping him.
With the high number of non-relative posts it would be nearly a full-time job to monitor and edit the posts that are written. Why can't we all monitor ourselves and post our blogs in the proper groups?
My plea is for all of us to be respectful of the authors intention when they write a new blog. I am sure everything written has something of interest to someone. Please just try to apply it to the proper groups.
I know I am not the only one concerned about this. Last month a group email was sent out by Craig Schiller informing everyone that non-relative blogs added to the group "Stage it Forward' would be deleted. None of this would be necessary if we just posted our blogs where they belong.
Please lets all be considerate and post blogs where they belong and we have what we are searching for when we search.
Happy Blogging!

Barbara Jo & Bill - Thanks for your input
Cyndee - My friend it is good to hear from you. I hope all is well.
Well, I know I am joined to way too many groups, but I always wanted to find one that it fit into when I made some post. If I didn't post to groups, it didn't get read. I'm sure people are the same way, trying to find the 5 they might fit into so they will get more readers. We're fighting 40,000 other bloggers for read time. But on a group that is that specific, I agree, don't post about your Tea Garden Party in a Point2Agent help site. That might fit in OffTopic, FracheAire, or any others that would enjoy reading about it. silverthorn

Agreed, all, and Thanks, George. If we were limited to a handful of industry specific topics where bloggers felt unable to find places for unique posts, okay..... But not only is AR a full all-you-can-eat-buffet of groups, anyone may start their own! There is really no proper reason, let alone excuse, for inappropriately placed posts. Is it laziness? Ignorance? Shotgun marketing? Inconsideration?
Hmmmmmm, from DC!
Jaynee
"cocona": tropical-flavored beer. Eeeewwwwwwwww.
Howdy George
Thank you for your fine post. Very good point.
Have a good one
So, let me ask a question. Was this really about marketing?
I noticed that you had the blog posted to that group (not a member, just read the locations you'd posted it to).
I agree that it is a problem. We all need to work harder to make sure that we only post things to relative groups. Sometimes, I only post a blog to one or two groups. My localism posts often don't go to any group (although most of them do go to the Atlanta groups).
Thanks for the reminder.
Hello, George! Thank you for your additional input on this subject. I've now read yours and Karen Hurst's blog about about posting to appropriate groups. If we can just take the time to read the guidelines before posting, we can always find the appropriate group for our blogs. Thank you, and I hope you get a lot of readers to agree and comply.
Eric - Thank you dude
James - Very true
Lexa - I understand...good luck
Lola - I hope everyone can get on the right track
Jaynee - You are a crack up...thanks!
Dale - You are very welcome
Marchel - Thanks my friend...very frustrating!
Lane - You are welcome...I hope everyone will take it to heart
Melissa - Ask the person that created the group and I am sure they would love your assistance
Peggy - I had a wonderful day my friend. A new group would not help much if people don't respect it and follow the guidlines.
Yolanda - Thank you my friend.
George, I hear ya! There are many groups I have joined and go there to find information only to see there are posts there that have nothing to do with the subject matter.
I have one group I started and I delete the posts that have nothing to do with the group. Others like WooHoo Sally and Gena Riede maintain their groups perfectly. (among many others).
Maybe AR should put out a post (or email) to all owners of a group(s) to make sure the content posted in appropriate for the group intended.
Sandi - Thanks...I hope everyone will realize the importance of making Active Rain what it was intended to be.
Chuck - Very true my friend. I hope everyone will monitor themselves.
Bill - Thank you so much. I hope those that need to read this post will.
Hi George,
We appreciate your point and have found people here on AR posting things from other areas into towns where it doesn't belong. We find this to be a watering down of the true intent of "Local"-ism. We're very happy that the AR Gods have limited the number of groups you can put a blog into here on AR. Probably the overwhelming details of Blogging just needs more people to stay focused. It can be difficult to do in the Blogoshpere but it's so nice to have concerned members such as yourself along the way!
Sue - Go to battle with me dear!
Lisa & Robert - Thank you and it is good to hear from you
Pamela -Bless your hear and thank you
George, it also comes down to the group administrator creating a group they will monitor daily and removing the posts that aren't relevant. If the same person posts again after you have made it clear then you remove them from the group.
Like one of your commenters mentioned above, if they don't post in a group it won't get read with there being seemingly 3,000 new articles daily. So groups are essential but need to be well run also. Once it gets out of hand.....it's hard to get it back.
Now if we could do something about taking property listings off the main blog lists that would be just dandy.
Steve - Thanks, I just hope everyone will respect the authors wishes
Ken - Thank you and I know I am dreaming to try to get everyone to be respectful
